The Indy All Star Big Band (aka Swing Shift Indy), is a traditional Big
Band in the mold of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, and many other Big
Bands of the 1940's and 1950's. The band is under the direction of
Chris Drabyn, and is available for your dance, wedding, fund raising
event, or social gathering. While our primary mission is to provide
fund raising support for non-profit organizations in the Central
Indiana region, we provide ballroom dance music, jazz and big band
entertainment for Central Indiana enthusiasts.

The band has been in Indianapolis for the last 30+ years and a
number of its original members still play in the group. Most of the
members have over 30 years experience on their particular
instrument. Chris Drabyn, our Music Director, is the Director of
Jazz Studies at Avon HS. He is an accomplished big band educator
and trumpet artist who has played across the state with many
entertainers and instrumental artists.

including Fox Trots, Tangos, Rhumbas, Cha Chas, East and West
Coast swing styles, Waltzes, Quick Steps, Salsa, Latin, jazz, rock,
ballads, marches, as well as traditional big band arrangements.
Our library includes well over 1000 tunes, many of them vocals.

The band has full instrumentation for your listening pleasure
We play with 5 saxophones, just as the Glenn Miller band did, plus 4
trombones, 4 trumpets, male and female vocalists, and a full
rhythm section. In all, the band is comprised of 18 musicians plus
the director and vocalists as required.
