Swing Shift, the official Big Band of The Athenaeum in Indianapolis
Swing Shift is a traditional Big Band in the mold of Glenn Miller, Count
Basie, and many other Big Bands of the 1940's and 1950's. Under
the direction of Mr. Jim Edison, Swing Shift is available for your
wedding, fund raising event, dance or social gathering. We rehearse
at the Athenaeum in Indianapolis and support their fund raising efforts
throughout the year.

The band has been in Indianapolis for the last 10 years and many of
its original members still play in the group. Most of the members
have over 30 years experience on their particular instrument, more
than most bands in the state. Jim Edison, our music director, is a
well known trumpet player and teacher who played professionally for
many years throughout the country with many famous bands.

Our musical selections include swing, Latin, jazz, rock, ballads,
waltzs, marches, and many other styles of music. Our library
includes over 1000 tunes, many of them vocals.

The band has full instrumentation for your listening pleasure
We play with 5 saxophones, just as the Glenn Miller band did, plus 4
trombones, 4 trumpets, a female vocalist, and a full rhythm section.
In all, the band is comprised of 18 musicians plus the director.
